“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

Thus spoke Martin Luther King Jr. in a great endorsement for humility, curiosity, and discovery. At this DIY talk series, you will have five minutes to show how dangerous we are. You may share anything at all during your five minutes, as long as you personally think it’s fascinating. Your goal is to transmit your sense of fascination to others. If you like having a theme, the theme will be “Experiences”.

This round of mini talks will be hosted by the wonderful Seth Frey:
A scholar of commons governance and an organizer for the cooperative movement. He is a computational behavioral scientist specializing in the science of community governance, developing the scholarship of his teacher, Elinor Ostrom. As a professor at the University of California, he earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and Informatics at Indiana University in 2013, and his B.A. in Cognitive Science from Berkeley in 2004. He was a scholar at the New England Complex Systems Institute and a researcher in the behavioral economics group at Disney Research, a part of Walt Disney Imagineering. Beyond academia, he has 20 years’ experience in grassroots community economic development, filling development, leadership, and founder roles for housing cooperatives and other community groups. This includes service to Bay Area community housing groups such as Vital Arts, the Embassy Network, and Haight St Commons, and to governance research networks like the Ostrom Workshop, the Metagovernance Project, and the Self-Governance Commons.
